1890 United States Federal Census

The US Census Bureau conducted its Eleventh Decennial Census, popularly known as 1890 census on June 2, 1890. The total resident population was enumerated to be 62,947,714(approx). It was declared that the frontier region of the United States no longer existed and for that the westward migration was not tracked in the census of 1890.

The 1890 census data was the first to be tabulated on tabulating machine invented by Herman Hollerith. This discovery has reduced the census tabulation time from seven years to two and a half years.
